Analog Baseband Cancellation for Full-Duplex: An Experiment Driven Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recent wireless testbed implementations have proven that full-duplex communication is in fact possible and can outperform half-duplex systems. Many of these implementations modify existing halfduplex systems to operate in full-duplex. To realize the full potential of full-duplex, radios need to be designed with self-interference in mind. In our work, we use a novel patch antenna prototype in an experimental setup to characterize the self-interference channel between transmit and receive radios. We derive an equivalent analytical baseband model and propose analog baseband cancellation techniques to complement the RF cancellation provided by the patch antenna prototype. Our results show that a wide bandwidth, moderate isolation scheme achieves up to 2.4 bps/Hz higher achievable rate than a narrow bandwidth, high isolation scheme. Furthermore, the analog baseband cancellation yields a 10 − 10 improvement in BER over RF only cancellation.

This paper analyzes the linearity and resolution requirements of RF modules and AD converter in full-duplex radio transceivers. It is shown that the linearity of the transmit and receive chains can easily limit the device operation, thus motivating for efficient linear and nonlinear self-interference suppression in the overall receiver chain. Also AD converter requirements can become an impleme...

This paper introduce Fractional Delay Filter (FD) into SelfInterference Cancellation based Full-Duplex communication system. The paper explains that an accurate delay of baseband signal in cancellation channel is very important for the performance of self-interference cancellation. It emphasise that a delay other than a phase alignment can extend the cancellation to wideband with reasonable per...

Radio self-interference cancellation has been a technological challenge for more than a century while it is the most critical enabler for full-duplex radios. The eventual success of radio self-interference cancellation may well depend on not only improved hardware technology but also innovative signal processing schemes. In this paper, we present a few latest discoveries on such schemes. The fi...

This study presents a full-duplex Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) system providing the users' wireless access with a bit rate of 10 Gbps over 40 GHz radio carrier. This system can be used in a centralized radio access network (C-RAN) architecture because we provide a fully analog front haul link between central station and base station. We can consider it as infrastructure between remote radio heads (RR...

With crowded usage of the wireless spectrum, full-duplex wireless systems are introduced to increase bandwidth efficiency by transmitting and receiving on the same frequency band at the same time. Full-duplex communication is a promising solution for greater wireless communications efficiency but, it requires solving the problem of self-interference. SelfInterference cancellation is the process...
